Hey Babycakes! It's Snowing!

Today we had our first snow slush of the year. Abraham was determined to enjoy it to the fullest. There was just enough snow to make a mini-man and a barrel full of slush balls to ambush Daddy when he gets home.
While the kids were enjoying the slush I did a little baking. I made my first attempt at cake pops. The nifty Babycakes Cake Pap Maker made creating the little cake balls a breeze.
The learning curve came in when the dipping and decorating started. This time around I kept it simple with a coat of milk chocolate. Then I drizzled some Wilton eggnog flavored melts over them.

There were a few that looked like I was drinking a little too much eggnog...lol...but as you can see I got a better.
Just a few tips for the beginner like me. Make sure your melts aren't too melty (it that a word?...well it is in my world). Also, take it slow and enjoy the process. I always rush through the decorating and expect fabulous finished product.
I have yet to try these with the kids but I will definitely take out my Babycakes again!

Hope you all are cozy up in your favorite spot...enjoying your day!
God Bless!

I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.

Here is one last Thanksgiving project before I start working on Christmas projects! These mini albums are perfect for working on through out the day (or weekend)....while the turkey is cooking or football is being watched...when the kids start to bicker or bounce...escape to the craft room for a moment or two. Before you know it you'll have the fixings for an adorable mini album to document any special occasion.

Hope you all had a blessed and happy weekend!

Gobble, Gobble

Hello Folks! Can you believe that next week is Thanksgiving? I can't! I'm not ready for the hustle and bustle of holiday madness to start! My major shopping is either done before Black Friday or online. I like to spend December in my cozy little house making & baking Christmas cheer.

BUT before I get ahead of myself I wanted to share a few Thanksgiving cards... I don't make a lot of these but I have a good friend that enjoys Thanksgiving like I do Christmas. So, one of these will go out to her.

Any plans for this weekend? Looks like a mellow one around here....just hangin' out with the family. I do plan on take advantage of Starbucks buy one get one offer and have coffee with a friend.
Hope you all stay safe and warm!
God Bless!

All Smiles~ Family Photo Shoot

Our kids are nine and seven....we have never had a family portrait done. It seems in the past that the focus has always been on getting updated photos of the kids. Or the effort to get the whole family on board was more work then I wanted. Or the cost was beyond what we wanted to spend. Or my jean size wasn't were I wanted it to be. Any of this sound familiar?

Well, despite my jean size and the protests of my family we finally did it!
I can't say that everyone was on board for this one but they all did it because Mama said so=)! ...and watching me stomp my feet and throw myself on the floor in a tantrum isn't pretty...lol.
The day of the photo shoot I thought Abe was going to blow a gasget when he found out the session would last at least 30 minute. You would have thought that I said hours....but he came through with some cute smiles.
Frank was less then trilled about the whole process. Not that he didn't want to have a family photo but he hates having his picture taken. However he did a great job! Thank you honey!
Abbey was probably the only one as excited as I was. Her excitement was more about the outfit she got to wear..."Mom, these are jeans that college girls wear."...oh, boy are we in trouble.

We were able to take advantage of the talent of Luther Photography. I am thrilled with the collection of photos Melissa Luther created for us. Thank you!
I know this post is already photo heavy but I have one more...this is a project I created using some of these beautiful photos. It is a birthday gift for my grandma. She turns 100 on Monday!

Thank you for poppin' in and sharing this moment with me.
May your day be filled with joy and thanksgivng for all the blessings God has given!

{Mum}mies

Here is a quick and fun Halloween teacher gift idea!  The kids wrapped {clean} bandages around  plastic flower pots added some eyes. Then we plopped a mini-mum inside...and voila! you have a {Mum}mie!

The kids were so excited and proud of their little pumpkin creations. Unfortunately our weather has been wonky...humid and warm a jack-o lantern does not like. A week later they looked like this.....
 Help! I'm melting!
I guess next year we'll wait until the day before to do our carving.
Hope you all have a safe and fun Halloween!

Fabric Pumpkin Tutorial

Yay Fall is finally here! I've been enjoying walks in the crisp, cool mornings. Doesn't the sky seem bluer in the fall? Our leaves are slowly turning colors and pumpkins and mums are popping up everywhere. It all makes me so very happy! And has inspired me to put together a little tutorial for you.
A few weeks ago I was playing around with making some fabric pumpkins. I thought they made a perfect weekend project...even the kids could get involved....if you have the patients for little helping hands in your craft room. Huhhumm...not always the case with me...I try but I'm often a lone crafter=).
Anyway...here it goes...

Things you need:
  • Fun fall fabric scraps cut into rectangles (I used a 17 x 8 inch piece...it just depends on what size you want your pumpkin)
  • Stuffing
  • Cinnamon sticks or twigs
  • Twine
  • Hot glue gun
  • Fabric glue
  • Needle & thread
  • sewing machine...though you could do it all by hand
  • Embellishments

I hope you enjoy a beautiful fall weekend filled with many of God's blessings!
Thank you for stopping by
Happy Creating!
Hugs,

The Lord Is My Strength!

The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts,
and I am helped; my heart exults,
and with my song I give thanks to him.
Psalm 28:7

Hello friends! Today I want to share with you a little piece of canvas art I created for a very special gal. This is for Susan, a woman of faith, that has encouraged me and countless others. I feel very blessed to have found a friend in her. Thank you Susan for being an inspiration!

Hope you all have a blessed and beautiful day!

Everyday Is A Gift

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
James 1: 17

This is a little project I put together for a Praise Swap on Splitcoast Stampers. The catagory was to alter something...anything really. I happen to have tons of Stampin' Up wood blocks tucked away. So, with a little paint & a mini clothes pin I created these little photo holder.
If you'd like a closer look you can always click on the photo to see it larger.

So glad you all stopped by...I hope you enjoy the gift of today!

Gymnastics Party!

Today we will be celebrating Abbey's 7th birthday! Since this whole past year she has done nothing but eat, sleep and breath gymnastics it was no shock when she picked it for her pary theme. Let me just tell you there is not a whole lot of pre-made gymnastics party items out there...but with a little bit of searching I did find some cute ideas.
I had every intention of making her cake as usual BUT I had a bit of a disaster yesterday. All was going well until I went to take the cake out of the pan...It totally fell apart! I think this was because I made a 1/2 yellow 1/2 chcolate...they yellow cake wanted to stick...ugh! I tried to "glue" it with frosting but it just made the situation worse. However my local grocery store saved the day!
The cake toppers I did make using Fimo clay. I wasn't sure about how well I could create little gymnasts wearing Abbey's favorite leos but in the end I was pleased with the results.
Of course you can't have a party with out the party favors! I came across the idea of using water bottles from several places online. I decorated them using some simple Spellbinder cut outs and the fabulous gymnastics stamps I scored at Clear Dollar Stamps.
I filled the bottles with a jump rope, lip gloss, hair scruchies (the boys have whoppie cushions & pen lights instead) & gum.
For those that might like to take a break from flipping around the gym I have a quick and simple craft ready. I printed off a bunch of little gymnastics sayings that they can punch out and adhere to bottle caps to make cute little charms.

I still have the invitations and thank you's to share with you but that will be saved for another post. It's time to go pick up some balloons and make sure all is ready for the big day!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
God Bless!

Howdy!

Good Morning everyone! The kids and I are hanging around the house today. Trying to keep it mellow for our late night of gymnastics entertainment. Abbey has her year end gymnastics show tonight and we are looking forward to watching our little monkey preform!

So, while the kids are busy with their own little craft projects I put together a card using Papertrey's On the Farm set. Love this set...it reminds me of Soule Mama and her little farm. Well, it's time to pop this in the mail to friend. Hope you all enjoy this beautiful day!

God Bless!

Gift Fit for a Girl

School is out and we are ready for some summer fun! The boys are off tromping in the woods and Abbey & I are enjoying some girl time. This morning we plan to work on some crafty stuff for her bedroom that I will share with you all later.

This afternoon Abbey has a birthday party to attend. For Christmas I put together a little set like this for her and she loved it! She thought her little friend would too. It's pretty quick, simple and inexpensive.
All I did was give each item a "face lift" with some pretty matching papers. Then we filled the plastic box with pens, pencils, markers, paper and a how to draw book. Perfect cure for some summer boredom or when on the go!

Hope your day is filled with sunshine! May God bless you today and always!

So Proud!

Abbey entered the LetterKenny Army Depot Earth Day poster contest. She won 3rd place...which was a $50 Visa Gift Card! We are so proud of her!
Abbey did her poster on the dangers of plastic bags to sea turtles.

The poster reads: Each year thousands of sea turtles choke on plastic bags. They think they are jellyfish. Jelly fish are thier favorite food.
Please recycle your plastic bags!
Thank you for stopping by the JafaHouse to share in this special moment with our little girl!
Have a beautiful day and God Bless!

Double Dog Dare

My friend Chris & I have been talking about how we've let our blogging fall to the wayside this past month. Well, yesterday she double dog dared me to post something...hehe.

Today's card is one that I created and submitted to PaperCrafters using one of their card sketches. Unfortunately it didn't get picked up...but I like it anyway...so I thought I'd share it with you.

Thank you for stopping by and hopefully I'll be back again soon!
Have a beautiful day!
